Finger Lakes, NY

Building on water presents unique challenges not only in construction logistics, but in deciding which materials are best suited for the conditions. For this Finger Lakes boathouse, we designed a two-bay timber frame port with exterior cedar shingles that work in harmony with the surrounding hillside shore. Inside, knotted pine beams and paneling continue the Adirondack aesthetic, creating a lasting and durable lakefront port that’s both utilitarian and beautiful.

A wooden boathouse with large brown doors sits on a calm lake, backed by a rocky, tree-covered hillside. Reminiscent of a luxury home retreat, an adjacent dock holds a covered boat with an outboard motor.
Two covered wooden boat docks sit side by side on the water, each sheltering a boat. One dock holds a white and red speedboat, the other a maroon pontoon boat. Green trees and a nearby luxury home complete the scenic backdrop.
A wooden boathouse with high ceilings features two boats on lifts above the water, with large open doors offering a lake view. The interior, reminiscent of a luxury horse barn, showcases exposed beams and natural wood paneling.
A wooden boathouse with dark shingles and large windows sits on a dock over a calm lake, reminiscent of a luxury home, surrounded by trees and distant hills under a clear blue sky.
