Building on water presents unique challenges not only in construction logistics, but in deciding which materials are best suited for the conditions. For this Finger Lakes boathouse, we designed a two-bay timber frame port with exterior cedar shingles that work in harmony with the surrounding hillside shore. Inside, knotted pine beams and paneling continue the Adirondack aesthetic, creating a lasting and durable lakefront port that’s both utilitarian and beautiful.
